Find the Baby Bison Contest

On November 2, 2011 the Bison Collaborative launched the Find the Baby Bison Contest. This project was developed in partnership between the Royal Ontario Museum, the Toronto Zoo, Parks Canada and Earth Rangers.

The Bison Collaborative brings together some of Canada’s leading conservation and education focused organizations to inspire youth to learn about and engage in the conservation of ecosystems. To bring grassland conservation into the minds of youth, ages 5-18, an interactive contest was developed. The contest challenges kids to find a baby bison that has been lost from the herd.

A virtual bison has been hidden on EarthRangers.com as well as on all of the Bison Collaborative partners’ websites. A cutout bison can also be found at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Toronto Zoo. To enter the contest participants under the age of 18 visit www.findthebabybison.com and indicate where they have spotted the baby bison. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a trip for four to the Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan to participate in bison monitoring and the release of black-footed ferrets. Secondary prizes include behind-the-scene-tours of the Royal Ontario Museum and the Toronto Zoo as well as an Animal Trainer Experience with Earth Rangers.
